We've spent time on Discover 2, Velotric’s premium commuter. It quickly became one of our favorite e-bikes for getting around town and for weekend rides to the farmer’s market.

The Discover 1 Plus, however, is another option we recommend. It uses a less powerful motor and battery but has the same styling and practicality—and a holiday discount of around $500.

When you buy this bike during VVolt's Black Friday promotion, you get a free extra battery. Granted, the Centauri II is pricier than many commuter e-bikes, but those bikes rarely have the number of features and many conveniences of this one.

A big reason to consider Lectric’s One is its Pinion gearbox and Gates belt drive system. The Pinion is a fully enclosed gearbox unit—like an internally geared hub except mounted in the bottom bracket—that requires almost no maintenance.

Pinion products are typically found on pricey and niche bicycles. So this system on a $2,200 commuter e-bike is exciting, especially since it’s a part usually reserved for bikes triple that price.

Plus, for a limited time, get a long-range spare battery for $200 with purchase.

On snowy days and gravel pathways, the Aventure.2 is an excellent fat-tire e-bike for commuters. Compared to the original Aventure, this second-generation model rides more smoothly and its new torque sensor allows more control over the acceleration of Aventure’s 750W rear hub motor.
