Everyone, it seems, is updating their eMTBs this month - Singletracks Mountain Bike News

Gear Watch Wednesday is a weekly update on the latest mountain bike gear releases and products that Singletracks has received for test. Have gear news to share, or products you’d like us to check out? Email [email protected].

Add Lapierre to the list of bike brands updating their electric mountain bikes around the new BOSCH Performance Line CX motor. Already this month, Santa Cruz, Norco, Moustache, and Orbea updated their electric mountain bikes with the latest Bosch motor, to name a few. (And keep scrolling to see Pivot’s bike with the new Bosch motor.)

The aluminum alloy Lapierre Overvolt AM delivers a new shock position and pivot point design for 170/160mm of suspension travel front and rear. A three-position flip chip allows buyers to run matched 27.5″ or 29″ wheels, or mixed wheels. Builds are said to weigh 26.3kg (about 58lb) and up.

The aluminum alloy LAST CLAY trail bike offers 126mm of rear suspension travel and is compatible with a 140mm or 150mm fork. A swappable rocker link allows buyers to run either 29″ or mixed wheels. The link system is retrofitable, meaning, “if you are already riding the [LAST] GLEN V3, you can easily convert to the CLAY. The frame can be used variably to give everyone the opportunity to ride the setup that suits them best.”

Depending on the build, the German brand says the CLAY weighs as little as 14Kg (about 31lb).

Up front, the LAST CLAY sports a relatively slack ~64.5° head angle, while the seat angle is about 78°. Tall riders will be stoked to see frame sizes designed for riders 6’5″ tall with reaches as long as 544mm. Even the smallest frame size offers a generous 450mm reach.

Swiss-brand Daysaver is currently running a Kickstarter for their latest project, the Incredible Pump. The mini pump, available in regular and large sizes, holds either one or two tools inside, respectively. The pump can be attached directly to a Presta tire valve, or you can add a hose to the pump (this counts as one of the stash tools) to fit Schraeder valves and to make pumping easier. A stashable multi-tool and tire tool will also be available.

The Cotic Rocket e-bike is a rare bird indeed: a British-made, full-suspension, steel electric mountain bike. The bike features an external battery for easy swaps and utilizes a Shimano EP801 motor. This electric Rocket has 150mm of rear suspension travel and is compatible with either a 150mm or 160mm fork.

The new Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay SL is a lightweight eMTB with 150/145mm of travel front and rear. Rocky Mountain says a top-end carbon build, size large, weighs just 43lb. Size extra small frames are designed around 27.5″ wheels front and rear, while larger sizes roll on 29″ or mixed wheels. Carbon and aluminum frames are available in multiple build configurations.

Like other Rocky Mountain bikes, the Instinct Powerplay features a Ride 4 flip chip system for adjusting the geometry, plus there’s also a reach-adjust headset that adds or subtracts 5mm from the reach. Chainstay lengths are size-specific.

On the powertrain side, the Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay SL features a new Dyname S4 Lite Drive motor that’s exclusive to the brand and delivers up to 65Nm of torque. The bike comes with a 480Wh battery and there’s an optional range extender available.

The new Club Ride Spoke Tech pants are the most premium (and technical) yet for the brand. With abrasion-resistant panels and PFAS-free materials, these pants promise to figuratively last forever without leaching forever chemicals into the environment. Includes a sewn-in belt.

The new Repente Nomad saddle is designed for both mountain biking and road biking, and the brand says it’s a good choice for men and women. It measures 260x142mm and features an independent pad and shell that’s said to make for easy replacement in the event of damage.

The four-piece Crankbrothers Slider Tire Lever kit promises to make installing tight tubeless tires easier. Two snap-on sliders hold the bead in place at either end so you can use the lever to get the last bit in place.

The Pivot Shuttle LT gets the new Bosch Performance CX Race Limited Edition motor for a bike Pivot says is “one of the lightest in the category.” The electric enduro bike boasts 170mm of suspension travel up front and 160mm of DW-Link suspension in the rear.

San Francisco-based Ornot has released their fall collection and includes a new lightweight cargo bib tights plus snazzy colors on some popular cool-weather tops. Ladies are in luck and can get the Micro Climate jacket now in the new colors (olive, golden, azul, nightshade) while the men can pre-order one, or layer up with a Grid Thermal jersey.

The Mission Workshop Drift tote is one heavy duty bag. With 28L capacity, there’s plenty of room for your daily hauls or a weekend trip. Order one of the seven colors before October 27th and get 15% off the price.
